Innovation Centre gives USC students an edge
16-Mar-2011The Innovation Centre is working to turn its ‘mini-city’ of over 30 innovative knowledge-based businesses into a student ‘Learning Laboratory’.
“The Learning Lab idea is about promoting mutually beneficial relationships. Not only do the students gain real world experience but it also creates an opportunity for the businesses to work with talented students to boost their business growth,” Colin said.
In 2010, the Innovation Centre Student Ambassador Erin Pyers matched up learning and work experience opportunities for 62 USC students with Innovation Centre businesses.
Just two of the businesses providing learning opportunities for USC students are Food Matters – producers of documentary on nutrition, health and wellbeing and online marketing experts, Traffika.
“Working with students allows us to make the best use of our resources and we help the students to develop practical and valuable skills,” Traffika Managing Director, Matt Forman said.
"Our base at the Innovation Centre allows us to tap into the student talent at USC. Last year we employed USC student Glenn Badke to increase our productivity"
"Glenn is now our full time Finance & Administrations Manager and is due to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) in April this year" Matt Forman said.
