Fumunda Pty Ltd is a research and development company that designs and manufactures marine mammal acoustic deterrent devices, commonly know as Pingers. Some 300,000 Dolphins and Porpoises are lost annually as a result of incidental entanglement in commercial fishing equipment (so called “by catch”). Pingers are used to alert Dolphins and Porpoises to the presence of fishing equipment, reducing the losses significantly.   Our on going research involves the use of Pingers with other marine mammal species such as Whales, Seals and Dugongs.
